Sugar Rush

A Step Up without the length is a good start at describing the Sugar Rush.  A close friend Shuichi Tokunaga from Okinawa was a driving force behind this board's design. The reefs there are very shallow, and the waves just come in , stand straight up, and dump. He was in need of something shorter that would fit the curve on the smaller days, but would still catch the wave and hold in in the barrel. The Sugar Rush was born in response to people like Shuichi asking themselves again and again: β€œHow do I get more paddle power in a shorter board without losing performance?” Ridden and tested in a wide variety of waves from Off The Wall all the way to Chuns, this model does a great job of getting you into the wave early without having a lot of length out in front of you. Mid-point forward it feels almost like a little fun board, but from Mid-point back it's all high speed performance. By end-stage development, this model turned out to be an extremely versatile board, performing well in barrels as well as everyday surf. We can do this board from as small as possible right up to the 9 foot range. Carl is currently riding a new 7'4 that's proved to be even super fun in smaller summer surf. If you’re looking for a single choice that can hold its own in serious surf, but still perform well in regular conditions, the Sugar Rush could be the model for you.
