Scotty on his Hi Pro
Scotty Fong, Jr.
Scotty has been surfing for more than a decade. Growing up on Oahu surfing some of the best secret spots on the East side as his home break. Later, going on to win the famous China Uemura's surf contest a few years in a row. Scotty has brought a lot of podium finishes in several contests located in the US and Japan.
Although Scotty champions surfing, he is a man of many other talents. Scotty graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a degree in Hawaiian studies and after, attended graduate school. Ultimately writing his exit thesis on surfing. Who ever said surfing won't get you anywhere? Scotty has clearly proven them wrong. In addition, Scotty is a commercial pilot. Currently he flys for Mokulele Airlines and hopes to gain the experience flying jets on the mainland to fulfil his dream of being a Hawaiian Airlines pilot.
Schaper Hawaii has been so stoked to call Scotty a friend and team rider for the past few years. Not only is Scotty killing the surfing scene, he is definitely killing life!
Some of his other sponsors include: No Rep board shorts, G wetsuits, and Kona brewing company
TAOA Pou
Taoa Pou was born in Tahiti, raised on Molokai, and now lives on the North Shore of Oahu. Taoa has always dreamt of becoming a professional surfer while living on the island of Molokai, but this would not be an easy task. If Taoa was going to live out his dream he would need to leave the island and thatβs exactly what he did.
At the young age of ten, Taoa placed fourth in the Irons Brothers Classic on Kauai. At the age of eleven Taoa and two other lucky groms were invited by Tommy Asing on a surf trip to California where they competed in the Wind and Sea Surf Classic in La Jolla beach California, placing Taoa in 6th place. At the age of thirteen he was sponsored into his very first professional surf competition, the "Sponsor Me" contest at Ala Moana Bowls. Later, Taoa placed second in the Local Motion Surf into Summer.
Schaper Hawaii is excited for Taoa to join the team and can not wait to see him win more contests and support him in pursuing his dream to become a professional free surfer.
